You are probably doing better than me. I am 24 and still can't drive. :( It terrifies me.

I didn't get my license until I was 28 and only because I absolutely had to. Don't feel bad. Driving is terrifying. I still despise it, it still scares the hell out of me, and I still refuse to do it if I can possibly get out of it.

That does make me feel a little better. I am driving a bit with someone in the car. But I just have my permit.

my grandmother learned at age 72. You will be fine. Just be boring and predictable, so no one is surprised by your car's actions, and all will be well.
Also, you *will* likely crash. It happens, it's not a judgement on your skill or worthiness, just experience.

That does help, and thank you. At 25, I'm worried about picking up the reflexes that I should have been getting started on a decade ago. (I'm also, thankfully, going to be learning in a crappy, rusted out car that's only one year younger than I am, so I don't have to be neurotic about dings and dents on top of everything else.)

Do you have a calm, rational friend you could go on daytrips with, who can explain what they are doing?
"I am putting my blinkers on and slowing down" "I am waiting to pull out because that guy with his blinkers on isn't slowing down enough", stuff like that?

Another thing you might like, if it is available in your area, is a "crash and smash" driving class, usually given at race tracks. You get to really feel what a car can do, with no repercussions. It's remarkably freeing!

I'd rather have you on the road than an arrogant texter =)

All best wishes!

My uncle's going to teach me; he's the only one who I trust to be patient about it, but with whom I won't be too embarassed when I freak out the first time the car starts moving.

Thank you!

No, I'm not. 25. ;) I'm freaked out too, mainly that I'm too old to acquire the proper reflexes.
