Texas

It's been a rough week. Do we have anyone from Texas? Are you all okay?

It's like the US is going to North Korea and saying, "Hey, you've been threatening us all last week. Well, nothing you can do to us can top what we can do to ourselves!"

Because, Jesus, man. And now flooding in the Midwest and monstrous storms heading East.

That wraps it up pretty succinctly. Thanks, The Onion.

Yup, me and my family are okay. I just hope everyone caught in the blast gets better/the families of the dead are getting the support they need.

My parents, and sister are about 60 miles away, and they had no idea what happened until they saw the news. I just called and spoke with them. They're fine, thankfully.

What happened this week besides the bombing and the explosion?

Re: Texas

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I think there was this whole thing about someone mailing ricin to Obama, and a few other high level Federal officals as well.

I don't live near Waco or really known anyone there, all okay in that regard.

Re: Texas

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
I live in western Texas which people usually just call 'west Texas' so my family had a bit of a scare when they heard the news. Fortunately, my family and friends are all safe. I wish that were the case for everyone. I am so sorry for the people who lost loved ones );

Re: Texas

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I hear you. I live in south-eastern Texas, but I have family in most parts of the state so it scared the beejeezus out of me when I heard about it. Thankfully everyone I know in the area was okay but...Sad day for a lot of people. );

Re: Texas

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I kept hearing Waco on the radio and only just learned it was West. I thought they meant Waco was in west Texas because of the way they have been saying it. That must have been scary for your family :(

I'm up in Dallas. And yeah it felt like a minor earthquake. We had some advisorys to keep our windows and doors shut and not go out if we didn't have too. I don't know anyone from West, but it's a pretty popular stopping stop when driving down to Austin.

The whole situation is horrific.

(I also had to assure my grandmother that it was West, Texas - not West Texas. )

Well shit.

Jesus Christ, this week. Fuck you, week.

I was so happy on Monday morning, too. Everything was going smooth. And then it's just been one fucking thing after another.

I hope people are OK at MIT. God damn.

Re: Well shit.

Just in case anyone hasn't seen this, or gets their news from f!s exclusively, or something:

the guys who did this were the Boston Marathon bombers. They killed the police officer, hijacked a car, got into a massive firefight with grenades and explosives. one of them was killed, the other one is still (as of this writing) at large.

It's insane

Reporting in! Sorry, I was uh, busy last night and didn't check F!S. That explosion happened a few hours away from here and while I was at a Beach Fossils show. It's horrible, but the first thing I thought was "I hope the Czech Stop is ok!" (It is, and I think only other people from/in Central Texas will know what I'm talking about)
