Re: Academic Honesty

1) Trying to make a better way for himself and his family? Not really. If he was, he would have continued to take English classes even after he got hired for full-time work. He would have taken classes and exams to become re-qualified in the field he majored in. He would not be teaching my little brothers and my little sister shitty grammer and wrong spellings IN ENGLISH. He would not be watching non-English dramas and reading non-English news and NOT USING ENGLISH outside of work and class. He would not have been sending out resumés for the last ten years without even receiving one offer for another job if he really was improving himself. Hell, he would not have told my mom he's "too busy" to look after my baby brother when my mom had to go out for groceries and I was helping my other siblings with homework, all because he was playing chess over fucking internet.

2) I don't want to see my dad get fired because he beefed up his resumé and companies hired him for his beefed up resumé that he can't deliver on. I want him to actually learn the stuff he's supposed to learn and, most of all, improve his English. Is it really bad that I want to nip this in the bud because I don't want to see him get screwed over by it?

It's not bad, don't let these idiots give you a hard time because... if you love someone you never ever call them out on their shit, apparently?
Really, they're just acting stupid.

Looks like samefag is some over reacting troll with a poor sense of logic. Ignoring them is probably the best coice of action.

OP, I'm impressed with your sense of ethics, your responses throughout this thread, and especially the patient, sensible way you reply to even the dippiest of the dippy commenters in this entire thread.

I hope you can work things out with your dad, but even if you can't - in the end, it's his life, and if there are consequences to his actions, then he'll have to deal with them. Just do your best, and stick to what you believe is right.

Good luck to you!

1. it's really not that fucking easy. if he's not making a better way for himself and for you guys then what IS he doing
why would he go to all this trouble and clearly be so hell-bent on passing that he'd cheat to ENSURE it? you're a piece of shit.

2. if you rat him out you WILL be screwing him over yourself. talk to him about it and make sure he's actually trying to learn in spite of his cheating. don't tattle on him like a fucking child. you are so fucking immature it's unreal

I think you are over reacting here. Where did OP say they are going to rat him out? OP asked people here for advice because they didn't have anyone offline to talk about this with who wouldn't get their dad into trouble. Ratting him out seems like the last thing OP wants to do.

Also, OP said the dad's work place is paying him to take the course and the dad was not willing to take classes on his own initiative. It looks like money is the motivator here, not self-improvement.

Logic. Do you have it?

"so hell-bent on passing that he'd cheat to ENSURE it"

Except if you cheated, then you DIDN'T actually pass, you dummy. Maybe you should try studying. Or just buy a degree online.

Wanker.
