Think of it this way: if someone hates spicy food, they probably aren't going to make a special exception for one particular spicy food that contains the same spicy ingredient as all the other spicy foods they hate.

But if someone hates spicy foods and all their friends really really want to go to a curry place, are they going to just stay home instead of going out to dinner with them?

I mean, just because it's a style of cooking known for its spiciness, that doesn't mean that's all there is to it. At least they could have some naan bread. (For the purposes of this analogy, let's say the naan bread is pretty people--pleasant enough for the majority of the folks in question, whatever your tastes.)

But the friends in the example are not going out for dinner to a curry place one in a while, but every day. I agree, OP could just try it once, and see if they find something they enjoy about it. But otherwise, naan starts tasting a little bland after a while, even in good company.

Sure, and that's a problem if that's what happens. But no one's getting on OP's case for being tired of naan. OP didn't even go into the restaurant.
