IDK how soulbonding fic usually goes, but I was just writing one in which the bond manifests if they touch skin-to-skin, and then they get this telepathy thing. They do think it's creepy. The appeal is them understanding each other better and choosing sometimes to touch to share traumatic burdens even though it means opening up their minds. So in that case it's an intimacy kink.

I think it's generally an intimacy kink, the idea of being connected and raw.
