wow.

and do these 'friends' ever try to discuss anything that might more actively involve you?

those are some pretty shit friends if the answer is no.

Um. Yes. Yes they do. And sometimes, a few of us will get excited and start talking comics, even though one person doesn't read comics, or maybe some of us will start talking about a book series that we read that another person doesn't. God bless 'em, after Avengers came out, my roommate and friend put up with me and a few others gushing over it every time we saw each other for a few weeks, even though she hadn't seen it and didn't want to. It's not like the subject stays on just one thing. Because, y'know, we're mature adults and we're a freaking family, and dude, haven't you ever been at a family dinner and the subject turns to football or work or something you don't know or care about, but it's still an enjoyable experience to be with the people you love, because what you love about them isn't all the superficial things you have in common, like having seen that one movie or liking that sport, it's the things that make them who they are as people.

I love listening to my friends talk about things that make them excited, even if it's not my thing. Sometimes especially because of that--it's great to see someone else's perspective on a thing that makes them happy. I don't see anything in my previous comment that would imply that I don't or justify your sarcasti-quotes and I sure don't appreciate them.
