That episode was so damn distressful, omg. I know that was the point but seriously, I was just so disturbed and scared during the entire thing. It was definitely a brilliant episode, but one I won't be re-watching anytime soon.

(Also, the finale was horrible. Or excellent. But still horrible.)

Well...

Sammy and Ben came to blows after Sammy finally discovered what Ben's been up to, Lydia and Ruben were awesome, and Cooper...Cooper snapped and beat a man in the face with his pistol then got shot by fellow cops.

He's not confirmed dead yet so if the show gets renewed he could come back, apparently even as an officer (TPTB said this), but...yea, even if he survives his life is going to be hell for a long while.

I was a nervous, nail-slivering wreck through that whole thing. It's probably one of the most intense and well-filmed piece of drama ever and I will never ever watch that episode again.

Chaos was the most brutal episode I've ever seen of a TV show. I'm reading The Onion Field now and what happened isn't quite as brutal but when put into context for when it happened and that it was a real event, it's worse in so many ways. I'm only halfway through and other cops have just started saying stuff to the survivor about how they wouldn't have given up their guns or implying they were wrong to have done it, like Cooper's old TO did in the finale. Cooper is one really strong guy that he held it together for something like three weeks before he completely lost it. That it ended up with him getting shot by other officers broke my heart.

Michael Cudlitz was amazing in this and he's rightfully been getting a lot of praise from the critics. But Anthony Ruvivar was equally amazing and I wouldn't have been so shaken up watching this if not for his perfect performance. I didn't really even like Lucero but his terror was palpable and when they shot him...jeez oh man I did not even see that coming and I screamed when it happened, then instantly started denying it really had happened.

I feel you on the plot, OP. One of my favorite Doctor Who fics is kidnapped!Ten and I couldn't read it a few days ago because of this ep of Southland.

I had to pause it several times during the show it was so upsetting. When I told my Mother how awful(ly good) it was, she decided not to watch, I had to tell her about it instead. I think that was worse for me.

My mother called me the next day and chewed me out for getting her interested in the show. It takes a lot to get her riled up and I was actually kinda surprised she had such a strong reaction to it. I guess she's human after all.

Oh, gods, this episode, it just.... I was yelling at the screen, i was *devastated*, it was just so fucked up and horrible and that end, poor Coop, on the concrete all curled up, FUCK....

Yeah, that was horrifying and excellent, as was the finale.
