I think the issue they have is the word 'Victim'. For example if you set fire to your house and burn to death, you're not a 'victim' of arson.

It's a 'You brought it on yourself kind of thing, I think.

Oh fuck you. Nobody brings rape on themselves. Especially not because they've committed the unspeakable act of possessing a Y chromosome. And if you want to spin some bullshit about how they perpetuate rape culture and so can't complain about the consequences that is fucking awful and stupid and just save yourself time.

Yes women overwhelmingly represent rape victims. Yes different issues are involved depending on what gender rapes which gender. Yes sometimes you have to work the numbers. NO this does not mean ignoring male rape victims or implying only die-hard feminist-ally men are deserving of aid once they've eradicated rape culture or something equally asinine.

Thank you. Someone very close to me was raped while he was in the military. Granted, it was by another guy not a woman, but because of EVERYTHING associated with rape and men, etc, he was never able to tell anyone until many years after he was discharged.

Wow, you're off. A better analogy would be "Your ancestory buys a gun, they keep it loaded, and wave it around pointing it at everybody around them. You, buy extension, are protected, as you are related to them, but not of your own will. People assume you're okay with the way your ancestor does things, and even if you try and change it, people still assume the worse. Someone else gets a gun, and you get shot. People assume you knew that was a consequence, because your ancestor had a gun, and was doing the same thing, but you didn't consent to it, or to your ancestor's actions.

You are a gunshot victim.

And if we were talking about some dude raping himself somehow, you'd be right. But we're talking about men and boys who are raped by someone else (as is kind of implied by the definition of rape), and everyone who is raped deserves sympathy.

And if your gun does off and kills someone else? They are not a victim because they own a gun too?
