The only time I have ever fully agreed with the Spoony One is where he said that the Tron sequel completely UTTERLY failed in doing anything new and inventive with the concept. What we can do with computer system now FAR outstrips what was even conceived back when the original Tron came out, and it would have been so cool to see anthropomorphized versions of the internet, DDOS attacks, viruses, wifi, and more.

And, y'know, Clu could have been a serious threat by trying to take over the world's computer systems. Why the fuck would he try to take it by physical force when he could have us all by the throats just by threatening to destroy the electronic world market?

I agree. And on top of that, all the characters are incredibly weak*, especially the women. I kind of wonder why they're even there.

I felt both films also had problems with deciding who the protagonist was. In the first film I felt they couldn't decide between Tron being the hero and Flynn and then in the sequel they could decide between Flynn and Son!Flynn.

Then the storylines themselves either make no sense or are riddled with plot holes.

I feel like they could get away with crap story and characters because of the interesting concept and pretty visuals.

*Not physically weak. Personality wise and interest wise. Their depth.
