(Anonymous) 2013-04-21 12:48 am (UTC)(link)What bothers me most about the genuine Ichiruki and Ichihime ship wars is that it's a case of classic femininity versus tomboyish femininity. (There are more traits to both.) Isn't this thing dead yet? I mean, really. Both of them have pros and cons to their characters. People just hate on Orihime senselessly and I have yet to see one person give me a legitimate reason for disliking her. One that's not, "She's airheaded, clumsy, has a crush on Ichigo, or breathes the same air as him therefore she's a SLUT and a WHORE and deserves to die!"

I don't dislike Hime. She's not my absolute favorite, but I don't dislike her. My problem is that Tite focus so much on her crush on Ichigo as of late, that it came to a point where it feels like she has nothing more to her character other than loving the guy. I don't mind her crush, really. I just miss the days when Ichigo wasn't her entire world.

I wish. It's present in almost every single fucking fandom were there are two "main" girls that have different personalities.
Sakura/Hinata, Tifa/Aeris, Rukia/Orihime, etc etc. And 80% of the hate is because of shipping.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-21 08:21 am (UTC)(link)Are you kidding about you saying that there aren't legitimate reasons for people to dislike Orihime? You are kidding right? My husband and brother in law HATE Orihime more than I do. They don't even ship. Let's see, reasons:
1) She was useless for a great portion of the manga. Save for stupid healing ability. Nothing says plot device like someone who can reject reality.
2) She is pathetically obsessed with her crush. Chose to say bye to Ichigo over Tatsuki. A lot of her actions are done solely for Ichigo (going to SS). I mean really, if she was an ugly side character everybody would HATE her just for those bordering unhealthy shenanigans.
3) She credited SOLELY Ichigo with saving her when speaking to Riruka. That pissed me off so much you have no fucking idea.
4) "KUORSAKI-KYUUUNNN!" being her only line for most of the HM arc. I mean come on. Even the VA's rag on her about it.
5) She sets goals and doesn't complete them.
-"Ima destroy the hyougoku"
"Opps nvm idek save meee" (to be fair it's probably Kubo's fault)
-"I'm gonna make myself useless so that I wont be a burden on Kursoki-kyun!"
"Why did I say that and then at the very end I still relied on him?" (you ichihimes deny her own condemnation of her failure in the lust arc it's hilarious)
6)She had to be talked out of her funk over Ichigo's viazard transformation during the Grimmjow fight by baby Nel. BABY NEL. Like freal? Sorry if the manner of saving isn't up to your standards princess.
There is a lot of shit Kubo fucked up on her with. So much so that flawed character = better character bull won't work anymore with her for me. Of course these are just my opinions...which I'm sure you'll say won't count as much as yours.
IH vs IR is not about femininity. Stop claiming that we're sexist because Orihime sucks. You are the ones who ALWAYS call Rukia "boyish". I bet half of yall wouldn't even ship it if the girls appearances and voices were switched. Oh and I don't really see any IRs call Orihime a slut/whore who deserves to die. Not saying I haven't seen it but I tend to disregard the opinions of very immature and derpy preteens/fanboys. We all went through phases like that I think.
