"Occasional minor negative reaction and discomfort"? How about a divorce court judge who openly espouses the philosophy "If a man still has enough money left to live on when I'm through with him, I didn't do my job right"? That is not a minor inconvenience, it's a person in power punishing every male who comes into their courtroom for the crime of being male by taking away their ability to support themselves. And while this is one specific circumstance, not all of society, and it's certainly not every judge out there, it's also not terribly uncommon.

(In case you're wondering, btw, I'm female with a dependent child and have been through a divorce, and I'm certainly not rich. I wouldn't have LET the court do this to my ex on my behalf. A fair share for the support of his offspring, yes. Everything that wasn't nailed down, hell no.)

Yes, taken altogether, men are privileged over women. Nobody with half a brain is denying that. This does not mean that cases of serious gender-based discrimination against men cannot or do not happen. They should not be used as an excuse to defend all male behavior or to claim that men have it equally as bad as women, but they also should not be dismissed or their existence denied. To do so is blind and terribly naive adherence to ideology at best, and flat-out dishonest at worst.
