He's a Blue Lantern and they get their superhero powers from the emotion and feeling of Hope.

It's a symbol of Hope, as anon mentions above, but I think this is also a follow-up of another secret we had recently, where the OP and their boyfriend were in a rough spot financially and in their relationship, and they wished they had a Blue Lantern ring to help him not lose hope.
