I'm off-and-on reading Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey. I'm intrigued by the bits of politics we've gotten so far, but was kind of turned off by the scene where the newly hatched dragons chose partners.

My favourite Anne McCaffery books are the Harper Hall trilogy (Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, Dragon Drums). They're more YA, I guess? For me they had everything I liked about her other Pern books and none of the things that annoy me :D
