I wish I could like this show. I'd like to see more female friendship. I enjoyed Rizz. and Is. for a while, till they upped the violence and the romance-for-Rizz. angle, and I got bored.

But Xena? Sorry. Never gonna watch it. I've heard great things. I've also been hacked at by a lesbian fan of the series and that turns me off. Apparently a lot of lesbians like the show and you know what that means: if I liked it enough to get into fandom, I'd be The Baddie for liking the womance and not the sexlove. Man, I'm so over dealing with that shit in fandom. If I don't see the romance, then I must be a homophobe. And don't tell me I will see it, because I NEVER DO.

But the biggest turn off for me about this show, and the reason I never watched it when it originally aired?

So bloody fed up with women dressed like male fantasies. Give me a bloody break. I want a character, damn it, not a wet dream for some teenage boy. If they can't bother to give me a character who's allowed to wear clothes that don't always flash T&A, then I can't bother to bloody watch it.

Yes, I have anger issues related to how women are dressed / portrayed as sex objects in media, m'kay?? Do not want.

And I'm fed up with hearing how it's empowering, too. It ain't empowered me any, buddy.

That's not how our fandom works. Hets don't get bashed for not shipping Xena/Gabby. Pretty sure you pulled this thing straight (ha!) out of your ass just because that one gay woman was mean to you once.
