I never watched Xena, but I wish there could be more female friendships/romances/enmities/everything too. But right now, if you want that, if you write more than one developed female character, you pretty much have to do an ensemble with lots of male characters to "balance out" those scary, alienating women. (And are you SURE you won't change one of them to a boy?)

(I'm a writer. Not that I'm fucking bitter at being made to up the presence of boys in my work so that I'm "allowed" to keep the girls, or anything.)
