You're worried about being old at *21*? lol

OP

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Not "old." Older than I am :)

I've always believed that aging certainly beats the alternative.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I got that way really bad around the time I turned twenty. I think, because I wasn't a teenager any more.

But I've often felt like I'm older than I should be and I wish I could be a few years younger. Since I was like 7 or 8.

kay, I am also 21, and yes. Because around now is when you have to actually start thinking of yourself as an adult. You haven't had practice or time to come to terms with the idea of no longer being a "kid". So I think this makes sense.

OP

Yes, this. It also coincided with graduating from college for me (my 22nd birthday the fall after graduation) and I'm still struggling after defining my life so much by school.

Early 20's are sort of a crazy time for a lot of people. Graduating college, getting a job, learning how to do adult things like file taxes and maybe rent an apartment... I'm 24, nearly 25, and my age feels "too old" for how I feel. Part of it is surprise and confusion that I got this far without blowing myself up or something, and part of it is wondering if I still have enough time to do everything I want to do with my life (because I still have a hard time grasping that I won't be old and decrepit at 40, despite all the proof to the contrary). And part of me is wondering how the hell anybody has enough of a handle on their life at this age to have important jobs and kids.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'm 25, and I still remember the feeling that your 20s are eons away and you're bound to have your shit together by the time you get there. And the feeling of looking back and saying 'Hey, what happened to that?'.

Yup, you're gonna get hangovers and wrinkles and have to get a job and pay bills and everything. Remember to moisturize and use sunscreen.

Sooner you start using the moisturizer and sunscreen the better. Get those fine wrinkles before they start!

But please, please please, OP, come to terms with age happening because you don't want to be that woman who's acting suicidal over turning 30. They're so embarrassing to be around. Seriously. I am never letting my BFF forget the dramatics she put me through.

Nah, I keep such neuroses quietly to myself :)
No, I just don't quite have a sense of my adult life yet. I liked being a student. But I'll get there.

Oh god... people like that, boy do I work with them. I actually forgot that I'm turning 30 this year until someone at work reminded me.

I was like, "Oh... okay. And I still get carded for lottery tickets, so clearly I'm not in line for the funeral home just yet."

But what happens when she goes the way of all child celebrities and dies in a compromising position from OD'ing?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah...just had my 26th birthday. Would not go back to being lame and 21 for anything. :P Honestly, my life has only improved as I've gotten older.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder, Is this a girl thing?

MY GF and I are both 27, and while she's starting to freak about being "old" ("I think I found a grey hair OMG WAAAAHHHHH I'M HIDEOUS!") I'm the exact opposite. I still feel like I'm still a teenager, like I'll live forever. I just don't stress about the future the way she seems to and I don't think of myself as 3 years from 30.

Like if I had to guess my age based on how I feel I'd guess about 19, while my GF seems to think she's in her mid-late 40's. All the other girls in our age group seem to be te same. Seems weird is all.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ehhh, of course this is a girl/woman thing. Have you never noticed how there's a big doublestandard when it comes to age amongst men and women? "Women age, men only get better" or something like that.

Oh look, a manchild, how unique

(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
You sound like a disgusting, worthless boyfriend. Your girlfriend deserves beter.
