Favorite Fanmusic
(Anonymous) 2013-04-23 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)Rules:
1. Original content. Not covers with lyrics changed or remixes of other songs.
2. Must be actual fan music, not something commissioned for say, a commercial for x show. it's okay if it was done BY a professional though.
Other then that, sky's the limit! Silly meta songs about the show/fandom are perfectly fine btw.
But personal favorite?

Re: Favorite Fanmusic
People get angry it seems more popular than the original...but it just sounds better.

Re: Favorite Fanmusic
Wait - does it count as original content?

And there are a few Doctor Who songs that I'm too lazy to track down.
And does this count? Song For Ten (Doctor Who):
Re: Favorite Fanmusic
Heather Dale's Absolutely counts. Fan Music for old works counts. In fact, it was stuff like that that I specified that professionals doing the music was fine.
Re: Favorite Fanmusic
Context which makes it even better: in the Ar Tonelico series, artificial humans (sort of anyway--it's complicated), sing...spells? Sort of, but it's actually all highly advanced technology that they're singing to and the songs are actually computer code that triggers effects in the local towers. (Hence why many of the songs are titled with 'EXEC'.) And Vocaloids are, of course, artificial signers...
So someone decided to make a song for actual artificial computer programs to sing, out of a language created for artificial humans in a video game to sing spells. It is both meta and amazing.

Re: Favorite Fanmusic
Mostly Star Trek-related, obviously, but they made some songs for other stuff too - "All The Children Shall Lead" and "ET Phone Home", for instance.
