Why do you think that the OP has used it the wrong way, however? I can see it being a reference to structural rules.

No, I totally get it. I'm always irritated when people say "grammar" and mean "orthography". But the secret actually specifies that they're good at "grammar and spelling", which, if they meant orthographical rules, would've been tautological.
