English Canada writes $xx. And from what I've seen Britain writes (pound symbol) before the price, and same with Europe and euros.

It wasn't really my intention to start an argument about this, but... I disagree, sorry. I was in Germany recently, and the Euro sign was after -- take a look at Niederegger's online shop for example: http://www.niederegger.de/epages/Niederegger.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Niederegger/Categories/Shop/200/216

It's the same in Sweden, Denmark, Japan, etc.

Depends where you go I guess. When I was in Greece it was, in fact, the opposite. Amazon's many iterations like to write the currency symbol in front, as do other online sites in UK and Europe.

(Japanese sites don't seem terribly consistent though - it's either ¥xx, or xx円 it seems.)

Yup. It's always in front if it's the ¥ and in back if it's the 円, as far as I know.

I'm French and it's written afterward here.
