Basically, from what I understand, it was an early idea he had that was never even written.

Companions were supposed to have some kind of deadly somethingorother that killed anyone who raped them, and Inara gets kidnapped by a lot Reavers and by the time Mal gets there, all the Reavers are dead implying they all raped her.

Adding on to this, I believe that it was supposed to shock Mal into realizing he'd been treating Inara poorly and he starts treating her with the respect she always deserved from him.

As subhuman cannibalistic raping and murdering machines, an untrained fighter like Inara would have no defense against the Reavers except her anti-rape poison, which could only affect a man if he put his dick in her against her will. She'd still have been violated, but the rapist would die. The fact that Mal finds all the Reavers dead and Inara traumatized but alive implies they died from said poison, which implies... awful things.

I don't know the series so I'm just semi-traumatized from reading that o__o But thank you for explaining this. I'm a little glad I passed on this show if the guy actually planned something like that. Even if he didn't do it, no thanks.

It's also kind of stupid, because you'd think the Reavers have a few brain cells to rub together and would figure out what was up before they ALL died, and also I find it implausible Inara wouldn't be critically injured otherwise.

Yeah the anon above explained it and I just dnw this series. I have heard great things and even if it didn't happen, it is the height of discomfort to know the guy thought about having this happen.

How would it know the difference between rape and rough consensual sex? Unless she specifically activates it, that seems to be getting tin Todd Akin-like "the female body has ways of shutting that whole thing down" territory.
