"...important social issues"

Excuses, excuses, excuses ...

Both you and the original poster are being -- deliberately ? -- obtuse.

There is such a thing as writing people as people ...

The attitude that you have to insert "important social issues" in everything having to do with writing about women or characters of color is just a little misogynistic and racist in and of itself - because it discredits the notion that people can just be people - able to relate on a human level.

Maybe I missed the sarcasm. I read things as literal by default. My bad.

You just brought up my problem with SJWs in general. They only see *isms. They only see people by whhh boxes they fit int and if they fit in any minority boxes. If they don't they are "the oppressor" and scum by default. If they fit in 1 minority and 1 majority the SJWs will claim that one cancels out the other and they're still scum. If a person says they treat people color -blindly. Meaning they don't treat them differently. Because of race, they 're then erasing the identity and that's still bad. Everything is about what /box" you fit into with them.

Also I don't know why OP should have to justify which gender of fictional character they roleplay in the first place. I play mostly male characters at one game I'm at. Because I play guys easier. And its what I do for fun. None of my RPmates have a problem with it and if someone tried to guilt me over what FICTIONAL PEOPLE I RP in my spare time I would just say cry moar. If the fact that I don't role play my own gender for funtimes offends someone...they have too much time on their hands

the fact that so many people defend, excuse and justify why "white male" is the easier, the more comfortable to play, read, write, the default -- and everything else is just "too much effort" and "can't be bothered" and "stop ruining my squee you SJ people"...

... and they can't see or don't want to see ... or can't be bothered to see -- is a problem ...

yeah ...

Hey.

(also for the record, I play mostly guys on one board but I have tried playing females other places. I would have picked this chick here on that one board but there was some drama with the last person who played her and I chose not to , so as not to stir up trouble)

Okay I understand if you're talking about writing and representation. But ...I don't see why who one person chooses to RP in their own spare frickin time is a problem. I mean sure maybe if you're playing with them a lot you might wonder, but if you don't play with a person what business do you have going up to someone and saying "You don't play enough of this race/gender/sexuality of character. Explain yourself" is actually kind of obnoxious.

Many people (on both sides) forget that it's not personal. If YOU want to read about nothing but white dudes all day every day, that's your business. But when that becomes the widespread NORM? Then there's an issue. You're defs 'allowed' to like whatever stuff you like, but people, as a group, should to examine themselves and their preferences.

You don't seem to have missed any sarcasm, you seem to have completely inverted their directly stated point, which is that nobody needs to write/RP 'OMG, I'm SO OPPRESSED', so claiming you don't write women because you don't want to write that is a cop-out.
