Also, there's a reason that my Women's Studies Intro class in college was called, "Intro to Feminism(s)," plural.

And as I recall, she talked about the plurality of feminisms in the very first lecture as a way to frame the topic. And in that lecture she also talked about the word feminism as an "f word." So the class started out with an interrogation of what the topic is and what it means to be even studying it.
The history and present issues were generally mixed up, in that each week addressed themes, such as "Feminism and Race" in which we learned about the relationship between abolitionists and the suffrage movement, the Womanists critiques of Second Wave feminisms whiteness, and into contemporary debates about feminism, race and ethnicity, i.e. Muslim feminists and the veil, western attitudes on female circumcision, etc.

That all sounds really cool. I almost wish I had taken a class like that were I am. It not only seems really informative but actually promotes critical thinking on your own and painting the subject as a far more complicated topic than most people I've encountered do.
