Beeecause they're being dogpiled for being homophobic and racist because they're straight and white and don't want to ship a character of color with anyone?

Isn't that the point of the above person? That you do not have to volunteer your race or orientation for others to determine the validity of your opinion?

I myself think this is a stupid way to decide whether someone's opinion is worth listening to or not:
- for one thing, in an internet forum, one can always lie about it, it's quite easy actually
- isn't deciding someone's worth based on their race the very definition of racism?

Also and mostly: everyone is entitled to feel any way they feel like about any pairing IMHO. If you don;t like character A being paired with character B (or anyone), it's your right and your problem, no one else's.

It may be a different story if you flamed people who write fic about such a pairing, but that is not what the original post seems to be about?

I have a friend who'd say you can only be racist if you're white.

Yes, she's white.

The racism = prejudice + power thing really only works on an academic level. It also (in tumblr usage) tends to utterly ignore the parts of the world that aren't majority white.

But tumblr kids who decide they're activists tend not to care about things like context or reading full chapters.

Or the existence of countries other than their own.
