Kudos = I like this. Sometimes people don't have more to say than that, so it's just quicker than leaving a comment. Also, a kudos is always a same positive note--people just browsing fiction can go "hey, 100 people liked this!" Comments are not as good of a measure, because really, you could have a 100 comments calling someone a racist dickbag.

It's true that a lot of people don't like kudos from what I've seen, but I personally love them. I don't feel obligated to respond to kudos, and my social awkwardness is limited then. :)

Oh definitely. I always filter by kudos, never by comments.
