Re: AO3 and DW question

Then my fic wouldn't be for you? I would put a warning before the fic so you would know beforehand what you were getting into. You don't have to read it and I don't really care if the style puts people off. First person perspective puts people off but you still see fic authors using it. I really loved it when I got to read the fic like that. (It didn't take me to the end of the page but translations were there too in case people needed it. Mouse overs would just have the translation pop up. You didn't need to click.)

Writing it in english really would defeat the purpose of what I want to do. As I said, I would have to either "scrap the idea or come at it from a completely different angle."

Just popping in to say that I actually enjoy reading fics with other languages in them as long as I can easily find the translation.

One of my favourite BBC!Sherlock fics have a lot of random languages in it, and it is awesome!

I am pretty sure the mouse over thing is possible on AO3, I dunno how it is done, but I recall reading fics there with it...

Thank you. I knew going in it was a "love it or hate it" style. I was fine with that. I like it so I'm going to write it. I'm honestly not even sure why the other anon had to comment. I wasn't asking if it was a good idea. I was asking how to do it.

!!! You wouldn't happen to have a link to that fic, would you?

Thanks. At least I know it's possible.

I find it pretty rude when people put negative comments that have nothing to do with the subject on hand.

I shall see if I can find it: http://archiveofourown.org/works/317010
There you go! There used to be more of them, I have no idea what happened? Anyway at least the first part is still around. Because the part I loved was the one where they go to the Opera, and I know it is the same universe (author), because I could find a broken link to the sequel, but yeah...

I love fics with the hover over translations. They were very popular in Firefly back in the day.

Thank you. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one to like them. Firefly you say? Another reason to watch that show.
