If it's the fic I'm thinking of, I wouldn't rec it. These sorts of fics usually make me feel like I was tricked into reading gen. :/

The Hunter of Waverly Iowa. Sorry, no addy off-hand, but it's on AO3 and ff.n, so there's that.

It's really very well-written.

If after that you need a fic that actually ends with some closure, The Evolution of Clint Barton is another good one.
