"she's just pandering to the fans" is right up there with "she's a teenager"

I don't think it is. "She's a teenager" is "she's immature, she doesn't know what she's saying, her opinion doesn't matter". "She's just pandering to the fans" is "she's using this as a marketing opportunity, as is totally normal in show biz, and this should not be taken as evidence of her real opinion".

Boiled down to the harshest interpretations, it's calling someone (temporarily) stupid vs. calling someone a (tactical) liar.
