But a remake might completely change the characterization (or even eliminate some characters altogether). So even if there is a remake for your fandom, it might not mean fanworks for your favorite pairings.

Yea, this is very true... Though if the remake got things 'right' it would be a pleasant experience for the OP. If not it might be super disappointing.

(Granted, most people are used to disappointing remakes by now, but it still sucks when it's something you love. However, these things can be easily avoided too, so...)
