TY for writing this up. I was considering writing a comment detailing all the issues with Talisa, but you did it for me.

It's also annoying that Jeyne is pretty explicitly this typical noblewoman. She's sweet, but she doesn't challenge gender norms. But then D&D decided that wasn't ~good enough~, so they created Talisa who isn't ~like other girls~ (she wasn't even going to marry until she was dickmatized by Robb!). Talisa who can just decide to walk away from her obligations, life and home in Volantis and mosey on over to Westeros to be a battlefield nurse because she feels like it without facing any problems or complications.

Talisa honestly feels like a Mary-Sue self-insert sometimes. I know she isn't one, but still.

She kinda does, doesn't she. I can see the fanfic now. "Rob/OC. Rob Stark meets a battlefield nurse, and she's different from any other woman he's met."

I laughed.

And I cried bitterly at the cliche-ness of the whole thing.

I thought series!Robb was pretty insistent on marrying her after they hooked up because of the bastard stigma, especially after seeing its effects within his own family (which is emphasised in the series, especially with Cat, Robb, and Jon's relationships to each other).

In all likelihood she'll be dead by the end of the season for having married the wrong guy. How is she 'invincible' and not 'facing any problems or complications'?
