Whatever you do, don't read the comments on Yahoo!News. They'll make you want to punch a baby out of sheer rage.

But yes! Kudos to him and here's hoping to a long career that he can play out in peace :D

Ah yes. Internet comments. Delightfully infuriating (warning - not really delightful at all).

He's already had a pretty long career! He's 34 years old, has played for 6 teams, won a couple of championships, incredibly well-liked respected veteran. So he probably won't play for too much longer but on the other hand it does mean that he's someone that most players and coaches in the NBA know and respect, at least by reputation if not personally. If they haven't played with him one of their teammates has.

Ah, okay. I haven't watched basketball for the better part of 10 years (and never kept up with anything outside the Dallas Mavericks), so I'm a bit out of the loop about people's careers ^^;

The people who read and comment Yahoo!News are overwhelmingly right wingers. So, any disgusting comments about Collins coming out of the closet should be expected. If not in a very jaded way.

That is a very accurate description of Yahoo!News comments.

The class I was in tonight is full of Yahoo!News commenters. Like, that's not even hyperbole. A couple of them were talking about shit they were saying about Collins on yahoo.

I let myself get suckered into an argument over some of the more disgusting things they were saying. I was mostly winning (unfortunately score was really just being kept by who could say the meaner thing and not by any coherent points being made) until I called someone a buffoon and someone else said "It's pronounced baboon,' and I couldn't.

That bit of hilarity brought me back to sanity and I wished them all good luck with the rest of their life and just pity-laughed off following attempts to reengage me.

Thankfully after the final I will never have cause to see any of these dicks again.

Anyway, I read his interview. I'm incredibly grateful to him. He seems like a great guy and we can always use more of those around. I wish him the best of luck.

Good for you! How many more finals do you have?

Four lecture, one more lab final. I'm not stressing on any of them though. Of course that may just because I am out of fucks to give this semester than any real reason to feel confident. It's hard to tell at this point. I'm going to consider it a victory if I show up showered and in clean clothes to all of them.
