I seriously hope that her parents called the police and they lifted fingerprints off those Barbies and arrested those little shits and got your friend's DS back.

They called the police and filed a report but none of the fingerprint stuff. It was one of those situations where everyone knows who did it but you can't really get proof. There were at least three separate homes that could have had the DS, and it was probably a combined group of boys who perpetrated the crime. I guess the cops didn't think they could justify searching/arresting any of the boys without someone having seen them/had left evidence behind, especially over something as relatively cheap as a DS.

Yeah it would cost way more for the teams to get fingerprint lifts, and then there would have to be warrants for house search but only AFTER they get parent permission to fingerprint the suspected children because they wouldn't be in any databases. So yeah, so not worth a DS.
