JSYK, a lot of people (myself included) wait until WIPs are finished before reading and reviewing.

There are, of course, those I make exceptions to, but I never comment on each and every chapter. Rather, I'd comment only if something really stood out to me. Normally I'd wait for the last chapter before commenting.

Yea, I find it difficult to think of something interesting to say on each chapter. When I follow WIPs (which I don't like to do either tbh) and DO comment on each chapter I always feel like I'm repeating myself.

Oh, I know lots of people hold off on WIPs, and I don't blame you at all. My life would have fewer disappointments if I did that, too. But that's not really relevant to the question of phrasing a request for verification of interest/feedback -- people not reading WIPs won't be there to begin with.

DA
But it is relevant because you're talking about verification of interest, and a lot of the time I avoid reading WiPs but keep an eye on them so I can devour when eventually finished. So there might be definite interest even without comments or replies, it's just a matter of chugging on with the fic.

(Not the OP)

And do you think that's fair, expecting people to "chug on with the fic" when people who want read it (when it's finished) don't offer even a teensy weensy bit of encouragement?

as if there are a fair number of authors who parcel out fics that are completely or almost completely written just so they can have huge hit/kudos counts.
