In general, in this specific case, I think it's REALLY hard to separate criticism of the character from criticism of the changes. Like, most of the time when I see people complaining about Talisa being a nurse and take charge and whatever else, it's in the context of "and they did that to make her a 'better match' for Robb because now it's a ~grand romance~ and [insert all the very valid criticism of that change here]."

Maybe there's intense Talisa hate that I haven't seen, because I do try to avoid the fandom except for certain parts I know are safe. But most of what I've seen is more "ugh, blah, another Talisa/Robb scene, I hate this entire plot now" than anything else.
