Re: My neck really hurts

Try a moist, warm towel to help the muscles relax (warm it carefully in the microwave--stop and monitor it often since you don't want to burn yourself). And ibuprofen--I find that works better than aspirin or tylenol for muscle pain ime. Also try to gently stretch your neck for a few minutes every day. Remember those head tilts to the left, right, side, front, and maybe back (if going back--tilting your head to look at the ceiling--that doesn't hurt you, if it does stop, you don't want to hurt your spine). I also like to tilt my head forward, place my hand on the back of my head and gently put pressure to help stretch my tight neck muscles (you can also do this for the side neck stretch). Stop if it hurts. No pain, no gain doesn't apply here at all.

If you can only do neck stretches for 30 secs or whatever, fine, just build up to stretching it for a little longer. You can even do while on the computer to help your neck muscles relax. Just do what you can and go a smidgen further every day/every couple of days until you regain full range of motion. If I stop doing this for a while, my neck really hurts me and gives me a bad headache. It's not fun.

Thanks everyone--and thanks for this! I'm going to try that towel thing.
