(Anonymous) 2013-04-30 01:19 am (UTC)(link)And also because while they're nice as a regular place to talk about a subject, they do tend to devolve into poop the more active they become if the show or comic is popular enough to have several threads a day. At that point, people aren't just talking about the subject, and just spamming silliness (Dipper's cheeks, metastuck, periodstuck, roleplaying, enthusiasm). It's kind of like how someone can be a fan of Sherlock, but hate the fandom (or a specific place for it *cough*tumblr*cough*).
It's more about the idea of "culture" a board wants to maintain because of elitism imo.
