Alas, I haven't found anything I'd like to seriously read, either.

Scratch is amazingly written. It's Hannibal/Abigail but the characterization is perfect and the writing is IMMACULATE.

I know Fuller has been teasing that Hannibal is a "love" story between Hannibal and Will but I find that whole thing freakin' weird.

I can't get past the whole, "I love you and I made you this steak dinner out of someone's thigh to show you this. Bon appetit." ick factor.

It's just way too twisted. And I usually love these twisted things. But I think it's because Will is such a helpless, wounded puppy on the show and Hannibal is such a predator that I can't swing past it. Like a Great White shark trying to swoon a goldfish.

And like, idk.

I can't with people who want Hannibal to groom Will into a serial killer. Like the ONE thing that Will is truly afraid of is turning into these killers whose minds he enters in order to catch. Why would you want Will to live out his worst nightmare?

Because he'd look so pretty when broken.

For the less creppy explanation: I like dark stories, especially the sort that is about people desperately fighting against their inner darkness and, sometimes, losing in the process. It doesn't mean that I'd enjoy Will becoming evil in the show but a few fics where he just can't keep fighting anymore and gives in to his own demons, which is very sad and very tragic and therefore exactly what I want, would be nice.

Haven't heard the 'love' story comment, but that's...something.

IDK about other people and I haven't seen much of the fandom yet, but I would read Hannibal/Will if it were well written and didn't end in Will becoming a serial killer. (Actually what I'd really be interested in is Hannibal/Will before Will finds out who Hannibal is. Will being with him after that is way too OOC from my point of view.)

The fact that it's fucked up is part of the fascination, but it's easy to see why that pairing would disturb you (and I can't say I blame you, tbh).

just a little thing though - when hannibal first brings will breakfast, he tells will that he thinks he's the mongoose hiding under the house waiting to attack snakes (or an analogy like that where Will is the steathly/sneaky one waiting in the wings, and Will not only doesn't object to this, but seems satisfied by it. I don't know how you read that as Will being a fluffy bunny.

Just from browsing the Hannibal tag on tumblr, I am shocked by how little the fans seems to really understand the characters.

What have you seen? Because I stop looking when I saw that there was a Hannibal, Will and Abigail as one big, sweet, happy go lucky family thing trending. That was my limit.

Most of them have little to no interest in the actual canon of the show, books, movies, etc., and just want to see two pretty men fuck each other. Oh, and woobifying characters is just getting more and more popular now too.

The show is on my to-watch list, but I can just imagine that fandom is full of ridiculous OOC interpretations. It is to be expected of fandom, but it is always disappointing when a show should produce excellent fic just gets slammed with the usual slashy-trope-filled-crap.

It's fandom. If two white guys even look at each other, it's almost inevitable there will be fic about them.

Yeah I know what you mean. I think it has to do with a lot of the new fandom not having prior knowledge of the established characters by Harrison? That's just my interpretation, though.

That's how I see it too. Lots of these fans I'm seeing are pretty young and didn't grow up watching the movies like a lot of us did and probably don't even know that it's all based off of a book series.

I don't know anything abut the show or the fandom but this is a gorgeous secret.

Tumblr is terrible for this show.

Honestly, if anyone wants decent discussion about the show (that isn't just discussing slash) I'd suggest checking out the /tv/ board on 4chan. They usually have pretty good talks about it post ep(I know, I can't believe I'm recommending 4chan out of all things).

Plus they post up lots of lovely pictures of Mads too.

I thought some of the Clarice/Hannibal fics I've read in the past could be a little obnoxious (some just absolute piles of crap), but the ones I've been seeing for this show about Will/Hannibal just blow those out of the water on ridiculously terrible, woobified nonsense. I really wonder if me and some of these fans are watching the same show by the stuff I'm seeing.

i don't even see the sexual attraction. i mean, i'm aware it's most likely a component from lecter's part, but their on screen chemistry so far doesn't have that vibe. their scenes tend to leave me drier than the atacama desert, there's more awkwardness in them than real edge.

i'm glad it's working in a shippy way for a lot of ppl, tho! whatever gets them to stick and get invested in the show. i love it dearly already and the thoughtfulness behind it. a loud, invested fanbase could help keep it going.

The sexual attraction is kinda subtext-y and YMMV, but I find there's at least some sort of attraction at play. Mostly one-sided, though (Hannibal *is* a predator after all).

When Red Dragon (the 2002 film) came out, there were a few fics featuring Will/Lecter, but as I recall it, the mental attraction/fascination was just as important or even more important than any physical attraction. Of course, that could have had something to do with Anthony Hopkins being 65 and 30-plus years older than Edward Norton and although Anthony Hopkins is charismatic as all get out and I would call him attractive, he's not really Hollywood pretty.

This is sorta related, but has anyone seen that tumblr post about parallel character arcs between Hannibal and Pushing Daisies?

Because, you know... Fullerverse. Yeah.

Give it time! I have faith in the potential of this show, fandom wise.
