How fannish are you when watching shows you're into?
(Anonymous) 2013-04-30 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)For me, I used to really bad as a kid. As in I'd have to leave the room because I was so excited when anything got even just a bit romantic in my super hardcore kid shows. I've definitely toned it down since then and watch most things without getting in a tizzy, but I still don't watch stuff I'm super emotionally invested around other people because I get so excited about just the littlest things. Not leave the room excited, but still embarrassingly excited.

That's my fannish thing.

I've watched Community live using terrible wifi and a bad livestream picture and lag at a national park in the middle of nowhere that had no cell phone service.
This got long, and slightly off topic...
I do the same with books, except then it is skimming or leaving the book on the shelf for months even if I really enjoyed it and sometimes in the middle of a chapter which I find really interesting. It took me a year to read Good Omens the first time I read it, and that is one of my favourite books.
I do rewatch and reread almost everything though, to the point where I know every episode/chapter mostly by heart...
I am one of those people blessed
cursedwith the ability to remember mostly everything I read or hear and my brain is great at correctly falling in the blanks if I ever do miss stuff when I watch or read stuff, I don't miss out on anything important.I'm an awful fangirl, I don't react that badly/happily to things in my shows, nor do I cry about character death...Re: How fannish are you when watching shows you're into?
(Anonymous) 2013-05-01 01:35 am (UTC)(link)I think you accidentally a word...
Re: How fannish are you when watching shows you're into?
(Anonymous) 2013-05-01 06:18 am (UTC)(link)It unfortunately happens to me all the time. I double check it, too. D:!
Re: How fannish are you when watching shows you're into?
Except there are certain episodes of some shows that emotionally affected me so powerfully (that includes some really really really funny ones) and the initial experience of watching them was so thrilling that I can't bring myself to watch them again because my memory of how I felt the first time I watched them was so amazing I can't bear to retread it and shatter that memory.
Re: How fannish are you when watching shows you're into?
Well, almost.
Until today, whenever I think I am alone I would imagine the characters interact with themselves and the surrounding environment and would sometimes talk to them and run with them, even when I know it's just empty air space beside me. My mother has caught me several times doing this and I think she's a bit worried for my mental health.
