Bacon

(Anonymous) 2013-04-30 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so sick of bacon. Everyone puts it in everything nowadays. Potatoes, bread, donuts....like it's some big, surprising ~new thing, but people have been doing it for awhile.

I like bacon and all, but can the world *please* move on to mixing a different ingredient into things?

Re: Bacon

(Anonymous) 2013-04-30 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I strongly agree, but mostly because I find bacon so gross even the smell makes me sick.

Re: Bacon

(Anonymous) 2013-04-30 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Bacon is delicious. Bacon as a Thing is so fucking played out that I'm sick of hearing about it. I mean, we're at the point where, like, Denny's is making commercials about bacon overloads and how awesome bacon is.

The cafe at my school briefly had a bacon mocha. I swear I'm not making this up.

Just because two things are good by themselves doesn't mean they'll be better together.

Agreed. I also am sick of "bacon is the best food ever, if you do not like bacon you are not human" being the general consensus on the internet.

Re: Bacon

(Anonymous) 2013-04-30 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I think everyone on the Internet is sick of that. Everyone who counts, anyway.

I think it's mostly perpetuated by bloggers hungry for clicks and marketing people hungry to seem with it. And, I don't know, randoms on facebook.

I feel that way about avocado.

[personal profile] inkdust 2013-05-01 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Bacon I at least enjoy sometimes, but I just don't get the avocado spaz.

I'm just gonna have a bacon and avocado sammich, and neither of you can have any >D

I'm allergic to avocados. Seeing them everywhere drives me a little crazy.

I hate avocados. Bleeeeeeah.

I prefer turkey "bacon" to pigfat-bacon, apparently that makes me some kind of heretic. But it's actually got meat instead of being a primarily big gnarly slimy bite of grease and gristle, and it tastes good and crisps nicely and goes on my sandwiches so.

Lately I notice people are really trying to make avocado happen, too.

Whenever I eat bacon, I end up "dissecting" it and separating the meat bits from the fatty bits. The meat bits are tasty, but the rest gets left on the plate. :P

Turkey bacon is also tasty, but different.

Butterball Bacon-Style Turkey FTW, NGL. Though there's enough sodium in the "suggested serving portion" to last the average adult a WEEK I am still OM NOM NOM.

I love bacon but I think I love it because I eat it so rarely. I only ever eat bacon in strips with breakfast on days I want to treat myself. I don't like mixing my food much so I wouldn't enjoy bacon in anything else. I once had someone try to make me eat brownies with bacon in it. Most disgusting thing I have ever tasted.

Luckily though, I don't come across bacon that much actually. It hasn't ever randomly appeared in my food or something.

I have never liked bacon. EVER. The smell disgusts me, the taste disgusts me, the texture disgusts me, it looks nasty as fuck, the sound of it sizzling makes me nauseous. It's a full-sensory hatred. Fuck bacon.

(Also, fuck everyone who goes "BUT DON'T YOU MISS BACON" when they learn I'm vegan. NO. I HAVE NEVER FUCKING LIKED BACON. SHIT IS GODDAMN NASTY. GTFO.)

I love bacon but not on everything and if you put it in a beverage I'll side-eye the hell out of you.

Re: Bacon

(Anonymous) 2013-05-01 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I just had my first taste of bacon last week. I always hated the smell and the way it looked, but I guess my tastebuds changed because I started craving it a little while ago, whenever I smelled it.

So, I gotta disagree with you. Because now I can say that I truly do like bacon, and the world is my bacon oyster waiting for me to come along and eat it.

Related story:

I went to the Burger Tex on Airport Blvd not too long ago because I had been to the one on the Drag (mm bulgogi burgers!) and I figured it would be the same. Long story short, it wasn't, and I could tell when I walked right in, so I just ordered a BLT. I figured like most BLTs I would get a sandwich with maybe five pieces of bacon, tops, and lettuce and tomato.

What I got was a hamburger bun with a fistful of bacon sandwiched inside. Like, it LITERALLY LOOKED LIKE someone had stuck their hands in a giant pile of bacon and grabbed as much as possible and put it in this sandwich. Even worse, I had to get my lettuce and tomato off some sort of condiment bar and they had ICEBERG LETTUCE and only the gross end parts were left, so I just said "fuck it" and threw jalepenos on it and attempted to eat it that way.

I felt so sick afterward I thought I was going to throw up. I mean, I like bacon, but like most things that I like, I only like it in small amounts. A little bit of a good thing goes a long way.

No. At least things advertise their baconyness and also make things without bacon. Try having an onion sensitivity - they actually () put that shit in everything, and often disguise it under "spices" so you have no fucking clue until, bam! Sickness.
