there's no ymca in my area and the small gym nearby doesn't have an actual shower (just 2 unisex bathrooms). there's another but that's an hour walk from the motel and my legs and feet are killing me.

dumpster-diving is tempting, i guess i can try to look around for possible diving spots sometime.

no youth hostels/home-stays in my area. this motel ($225 a week for just one person) is the cheapest in town.

i don't live in a big city so i don't have too many options. :(

Is there any reason why you can't move to a bigger city? Person below reminded me - college gyms often have showers too, or at least the ones I went to. They are also often open overnight during exam times and they have health services and counselors. Is it possible for you to get student loans and go to college?

Maybe you can also go to the large chain stores and ask if they need help? Ask for the manager. Tell them you're out of a job right now and rather than sitting at home waiting for job offers, you want to know of stores in your area are looking for short term work - if the stores need someone to help stock shelves for the day because someone called in sick and they can't find someone to cover the shift, for example.

i'm already kind of comfortable here and i'd rather not fuck up my chances at actual therapy when i already had to wait a month for my first appointment (where i explained what my issues were). tbh i'm pretty scared of moving somewhere and finding out that it's not as "homeless-friendly" as this place. (by that, i mean people-wise and location-wise. i have to walk at least an hour to get anywhere in my hometown and that's just not an option with my leg problems. at least here, a lot of the places that i need like stores, the welfare office, the mental health center, etc are pretty close-by!)

i still owe my last college and i can't get any loans because i'm unemployed and don't have a co-signer. i've had some people at the homeless shelter and employment assistance place tell me "oh i think you could definitely apply, you don't owe loans!" but i've asked a uni counselor and that isn't the case.

i don't even know if i could do that kind of work with my medical issues. :( plus wouldn't they just ask some employee already working to do that instead of having to train a short term worker?

Ah, I didn't know you had medical issues. Some jobs don't need a lot of training though and not all stores might be able to find someone on short notice to cover a shift. You've said you only have a few people to talk to, right? So go in and talk to people. Maybe the stores don't have jobs but the employees might know someone who needs help around the house. You have medical issues, tell them what kinds of jobs you can do and maybe someone has a job for you. If you can't get a job, at least you talked to someone who is not the motel store's owner. Is it bad to try?
