Amen anon. My family was in a similar situation, only the whole thing wasn't secret.

I don't approve of the hatred my mother shows to my little half-sister. It is not appropriate, it is vile and disgusting.

She's a little girl who hasn't done anything to my mother. I don't know why everyone thinks she--and all the products of adulterous unions--seem to deserve a heaping helping of the scorn thrown at their parents.

Only in Jon's case, Ned doesn't even get the hatred or scorn. Jon does.
