I always liked Will, and never blamed him for jumping to Russell's side.

Seriously? That was completely OOC and ridiculous. If it was a different character with a better reason, I'd accept it, but Will? With THAT reason? The idea of him doing that after Arctic Radar involves brain-breaking mental gymnastics to reconcile.

....why.

Not the liking Will part, the Russell part. I adored Will, but that was some of the most bafflingly out-of-character, continuity-what-continuity behavior I've ever seen on television in my entire life.

Maybe I'm misremembering his arc, but it seemed like he wasn't getting the involvement he wanted out of the Bartlet camp. Job dissatisfaction is a perfectly valid reason to seek employment elsewhere.

Yeah, in theory, but IMO the job dissatisfaction in that particular case was completely ridiculous and nonsensical for his character. For a different character it would make sense, but for Will? He ran an entire campaign for a freakin' dead guy because he didn't want to quit holding up his ideals until the public got a chance to vote on them. I could see him doing it in different circumstances (VERY different) but I can't for a minute believe that he would quit so...calmly and mundanely. It's just not remotely believable for anything established about his personality in season 4.

It's not really about the fact he went to Russell, it's about the way he did it, I guess.
