Unless this is some random anon then you should check your dreamwidth inbox. :p

This exercise is reminding me of all my old ships is all and damn the flames haven't died out that much.

Yup, I'm like that too. You might not be involved in the fandom consistently, but that doesn't mean you don't still have a lot of feelings about your old ships (and that you won't be drawn back to them occasionally).

I think once you log into Google you're immediately logged into youtube under that account. I do think there's a way to log out of your Google account on youtube (plus log in with a different username) but I haven't tried it as I don't tend to comment these days.

:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I used to be quite involved back in the days. I never produced any fanworks but I talked to people and we had epic conversations. I think I even considered becoming a transcript writer for one of the LJ House transcripting communities before RL happened and I quit fandom. I actually haven't gone back at all since then and this is making me want to revisit my old lurks and find out what the BNFs and regulars are up to now. Except I barely remember whom most of the people I used to talk to were except for two or three names, and sometimes it's embarrassing to stumble upon one of my old comments. Plus, I've switched several computers since then so I don't even know if I still have bookmarks of favorite fics and comms. I should stop embarrassing myself by stop talking about my old flames fandoms.

I don't know how Youtube deals with accounts anymore. NGL, I liked Youtube better when it wasn't connected to Google. I would comment rarely but now I don't even log onto my Youtube account to upvote videos anymore. I think part of it is I don't want Google to track what kind of videos I like to watch. Another part is I don't want my comments linked to any of my Google accounts and Youtube tried to force(?) me to merge my Youtube account to my Google account the last time I was logged onto my Youtube account. Since I rarely did anything other than dropping the odd comment here and there, it was no loss to stop logging in altogether.

IDK what that emoticon means. I suck at emoticons.

Did you hang around house_wilson? For a while there I commented on episode discussions pretty regularly, so I might've run into you. I know from experience how embarrassing it can be to go back and look at old comments or posts or emails and what-have-you, but sometimes I find it sort of therapeutic as well.

I think I even considered becoming a transcript writer for one of the LJ House transcripting communities

...Welp, I never knew those comms existed. It's a shame, because on a few occasions I would've saved myself some time. That's neat!

Since you mentioned bookmarks...maybe you should keep them online from now on so there's no physical copy to lose? Maybe somewhere like delicious, or you could make a private entry here on dreamwidth and organize them in a post.

I liked Youtube better when it wasn't connected to Google Who didn't man. :/ It's just not worth the trouble of commenting anymore imo. Not everyone likes every site being connected to places like facebook or google at all times either; sometimes you just want a bit of anonymity.

Pleased owl is pleased?

Yes I did! Or I did? I followed at least one newsletter comm, one of the/the? House/Wilson comm(s)- one sec. clinic_duty (transcription comm!), house_md, house_md_news, house_wilson, rsl_daily, +/- some het pairings/fanvid/icons/ficcing comms and comms outside of LJ like Polite Dissent (real doctor weighing in on the plausibility of the cases!) and tv.com(?). Ahahahaha I probably saw you but I don't think we've talked. Google's not turning up anything but it doesn't have search results for locked entries and comms that don't want Google searchbots to scrape them anyway. That, or I was more of a lurker than I thought and I'm getting my House fandom experience mixed up with another fandom's.

I was importing bookmarks manually onto del.icio.us at one point because I wanted to organize my bookmarks while uploading them. I stopped after importing about 100 bookmarks or so because I realized that wasn't even 2% of all the bookmarks I had orz.

Exactly. I've always been more comfortable anonymous even when I had accounts and the accounts weren't connected to anything in RL. I've been thinking about getting fannish tumblr and twitter accounts again recently, something that's general fannish enough that I'll feel comfortable linking my RL identity to. There are a lot of good fanworks I want to share with people online and offline, you know? But that means there will be no way certain people in RL won't know I've got a toe in fandom and my stuff will end up on social networking sites for sure. :/

Oh, I didn't use this username. Don't know why I didn't think to mention that. So yea, of course you wouldn't know. You were probably using a different one too back then. *headdesk*

OMG that is a lot of bookmarks... I'd give up on that too, tbh.

Social networking is a pain in the ass if you care about privacy. Well, the internet in general can be, but there's never any guarantee that something you do won't get spread around (possibly where you don't want it). It sucks but if you're careful (and I know you are) that isn't likely to happen to you.
