[personal profile] cuteanimalpics 2013-05-02 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
  • The blue eyed-black lemur's scientific name is Eulemur flavifrons, and it is also sometimes known as Sclater's lemur.
  • It is a species of "true lemur".
  • It is currently listed as critically endangered due to logging in it's natural habitat.
  • The blue-eyed black lemur is the only primate (besides humans) that has naturally blue eyes.
  • These lemur's are sexual dichromatic, meaning the males have black fur, and the females have a brownish/red fur color.

I am torn between saying "cute," "their eyes see through my soul," and "they will gnaw on me in my sleep."

I thought humans were the only primates with naturally occurring blue eyes. And I've never heard of sexual dichromaticy before. Thanks for sharing all the cool information with these adorable pics <3
