Grumpy anon is grumpy
(Anonymous) 2013-05-03 01:40 am (UTC)(link)Everything was good until the inevitable Coulson Lives! reveal.
In the fic, Coulson Lives because Loki's spear did ~magic~ to Coulson, and he's magicked, and in bed.
Clint and the others find out, of course, and when Fury explains that he was waiting for Thor to get back, as Thor was the only person who knew about that kind of magic, and they had the best people working o it, Clint butted in with "no you don't, or else you'd have Stark and Banner working on it too!"
and I just
what
Neither Tony nor Bruce deals with magic. There is no paper (in the MCU) on Loki's magic that Fury can shove at Tony and say "read this, we've got a situation". Neither Tony nor Bruce worked on the tesseract.
Are you picking up what I'm putting down?
And yet the author wanted as to believe that Clint was totally in the right, and Fury should have contacted Bruce and Tony immediatly even though neither of them "do" magic, instead of the logical thing (IMO); waiting for their only known Asgardian to return, and hope that he has some info/can get some info instead of letting Loki-Whammied!Coulson around the Avengers whilst still Loki!Whammied.
/end rant

(Anonymous) 2013-05-03 01:55 am (UTC)(link)Not that this is a bad thing. The characters just seem to have more limitations in the longer running canon than in the movie canon.
Re: Grumpy anon is grumpy
(Anonymous) 2013-05-03 02:27 am (UTC)(link)I mean, at least in The Avengers, Tony admits to reading the material before becoming an expert. If they had handwaved that- that there was material (...somehow) for Tony to read, I would have been okay with it. Ah well.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-03 02:30 am (UTC)(link)...And that sounds like a completely legitimate thing to get upset about. I mean, you could handwave it as being an ~alternate ~universe ~Houston, by why should you have to?
