Bullshit

I can't right for crap myself (despite being in my 20s), but I'm constantly surprised by how young my favorite authors are - I actually end up feeling super old...

Wrote the 14 year old.

Yeah, you don't get magical talent at 18, but before that it is guaranteed you can't write for shit. Just don't have the experience before then. Too many brats from helicopter parents won't have much life experience after that either, but it is a starting point for most.

Not so easy. In my twenties I was being outwritten by a 13 yr old. Stung the ego something fierce! Clearly that's not all 13 year olds, but to say that under 18s can't write for shit is a fallacy.

Wasn't bravecows only thirteen when she started writing her incredible Good Omens fic? It blew my mind when she mentioned her age years later; all that time I'd assumed she was older than I was, based on her writing skill, rather than over half a decade younger.
