Because fuck that whole hetero-normative "mom" thing. They are dudes, they are dads, dads can be caring and fuss over you and nurturing!

Bingo. Add onto that it's always Stiles who is the "mom." I actually think that, in many ways, Derek would be the more nurturing, caring parental figure of the two. But obviously this is also related to the many people who require Stiles to be the receptive sexual partner, i.e. "the woman" of the relationship. Gah. Gah.
