As continuing yesterday's thread, anyone else make it to a local comic shop?

My local one was absolutely PACKED, but it was pretty fun. Bought 6 issues of Hawkeye (I guess I'll have to check online for the rest of them!) and a few 80s issues of X-Men that prominently feature Kitty Pryde (my favorite superhero), though not her debut issue (waaay too pricey for me).

Anyone else?

We only have one in town and it's closed on Fridays. I went by in case they were open but nope.

I spent a few hours reading X-23 on Marvel U because I want to like her, but the only ones they had free for the day were like really bad Mary Sue comics. I think I might have to give up on her ):

I wanted to but some life bullshit got in the way.

Had to go to work...I hope someone puts up the Avatar comic

I went to mine this morning and ordered the newest Marvel Oz book since they didn't have it in stock. Picked up some free comics and a friend asked about Heroclix, so I got him the Iron Man one. I think if I had waited any longer it would have been a lot more crowded.

YAY!!! Someone else who loves Kitty!! I can't find many people who do. My ex-boyfriend introduced me to Excalibur, thinking I'd like Kitty and I LOVE her!!

You might want to look for X-Men classics for her first appearance. Typically the reprints are cheaper than the originals.

Woo! I love her a lot; I like a lot of comics characters, but she's the best. <3 I read the Joss Whedon run of Astonishing X-Men and became a big fan; then I read other things where she was the focus, and now I absolutely love her.

I have the Dark Phoenix Saga book which does contain it, but I was just looking at the first comic in the store. :)

Yes, Astonishing was awesome. If you're interested, iTunes has an animated version of comics 1-6. Not too bad, all things considered. I HAD to get it, though. :D <3

The other thing I was going to recommend, if you haven't already seen it, is the Kitty Pryde and Wolverine series. It's a six part story where Kitty goes to Japan and is kidnapped by an evil sensei and shows where she picks up some of her ninja skills. However, Amazon no longer has the trade paperback, which sucks, 'cause it's an awesome story.

I ended up being too sick to go. Well, there's always next year.

I went to three shops - mine in Raleigh was PACKED (it's a fairly traditional, tiny little hole in the wall), but I got all the particular comics I was looking for, so that was nice.

I went to the big comics/gaming store in Durham and got some 50 cent books (a lot of Exiles and random X titles), a pack of Thor minimates (Siffffff!), and the game Pandemic (which I'd been meaning to get, and it was $30 so yeah).

Then we all went to the other big comic shop in Durham, and I bought a short box full of stuff for $50 and a bunch of $5 trades I never realized I needed until I was looking at them.
