I'm not saying they're saints. (Also, I didn't know any of that and stopped reading Anne McCaffrey after the whole "rape makes people gay" debacle.) I'm saying that if someone decided that something I wrote in my actual canon sounds like something they wrote in their fanfic, I'd probably flip a few tables, too.

aside from all the ambiguity, i thought this summed up the issue with MZB really well, at least

since the problem mostly was that she was so involved with the fanfiction herself, and apparently did really try to (non-maliciously) buy the rights to the fan's story

maybe something more has some to light, but i dunno
