Wow! It sounds like you had an amazing time Japan anon! I've always wanted to see sakura blossoms in bloom. You are so lucky :D

I'm sorry to hear your pet sitters weren't good :( That was completely irresponsible of them.

After a long trip, my cat was very grumpy to see me as well. He did warm up to my presence after a few hours tho. I just gave him space, treats, and looked at him with pleading eyes and told him I loved him every time he looked at me, haha.

They just don't have much small animal experience (sigh) and aren't too keen on rabbits (while I don't understand their love of cats). Next time I'm gone for more than a week they'll go to my bff, even if it does mean setting up and moving the entire dog pen and rugs to protect the floor.

My girl is starting to warm up again. She's usually very snuggly and cannot resist a good ear scratch. The boy isn't a huge snuggler but he's back to trying to boss me around. Man he grew while I was away. Nearly the same size as my housies cat C:
