i'm personally a fan of ambiguity myself or endings where, even if everything isn't magically okay and perfect, there is a sense of hope somehow

This, for me. Especially in my own fiction, I'm hooked on the "looking up" endings, where it may not be clear exactly what's going to happen next and the impact of whatever terrible things happened doesn't just go away, but there's a hint that whatever happens next will be better than what came before and the characters will, at least eventually, move past the terrible things.
